Owning an Electric Vehicle in Spokane is steadily becoming a smart and accessible option for those seeking green cars or hybrid vehicles to help take some weight off the environment. Even with EV (Electric Vehicles) being on the market for a while already it hasn't been a practical option until more recently due to low numbers of charging stations.

Washington State has been working hard to keep up its reputation as an environmentally friendly state and has begun building more charging stations in more locations state-wide. Charging stations for EV cars are becoming more numerous at steadily frequent intervals with Spokane and Spokane Valley working to implement more charging stations within city limits. Very soon we could see an influx in new and used electric car owners in Spokane.

Owning a Hybrid vehicle can save you a TON of money using advanced fuel and Lithium-Ion Battery technology. Read more below to explore how Honda is making a difference with their electric Hybrids.

No Compromises
The most amazing thing about Honda electric hybrids is that they never stops being a Honda. Meaning, you can enjoy the all fuel savings of driving a hybrid without sacrificing the driving experience (1). And, some states grant Electric Vehicle drivers access to HOV (Carpool) lanes (2), even when they're driving alone. California recently extended its HOV eligibility for qualified vehicles through 2018.

Electric Weekdays
If your daily commute is around 10 miles or less round trip, you could go to and from work each day without using a drop of gas. The electric hybrids have a (targeted) 10-mile all-electric range rating. Just recharge your vehicle each night and you might be able to enjoy fuel-free weekdays.

Credits & Specials
Uncle Sam is encouraging everyone to drive eco-responsibly. That's why owners of a new Honda electric hybrid are eligible for up to $2,500 in federal tax credits. And Californians who own electric hybrid cars can apply for state tax rebates up to $2,500 as well, through the CA Clean Vehicle Rebate Project.

Sustainable Is Attainable
It's a simple fact: One day, crude oil will dry up. That's why Honda has been working on transportation solutions that reduce our use of and/or dependence on fossil fuels for decades. And with a comprehensive portfolio of environmental technologies, including hydrogen, battery electric, solar and natural gas, Honda is forging a path toward a sustainable future.

A Lightning-Fast Charge
Arguably the most fascinating feature of the Honda electric hybrids is how little time it takes to fully recharge. When the battery's state of charge trigger the low state of charge indicator light, the electric hybrids can be fully recharged in less than three hours using a 120-volt (3) charger. And if you have access to a 240-volt, Level 2 charger, your electric hybrid can be fully charged in less than an hour.

Charging On The Go
Honda electric hybrids include a compatible plug, which can be used at many public charging stations. Charging locations can be found on the navigation systems (4) as well as via the Honda smartphone app (5). The U.S. Department of Energy also includes an updated map with charging locations.

Plug In At Home
Honda has selected Leviton as the preferred supplier and installer of the optional 240 volt home charging station. Installing a home charging station is the best way to ensure the quickest charge time for Honda electric hybrids. Leviton will obtain all the required permits from your local municipality before installing the system. Installation costs, including permitting fees, may vary depending upon your home charging station needs.

A Battery Breakthrough
Lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries have been used in consumer electronics for more than a decade, and in that time, the capacity and durability of these efficient batteries has increased dramatically. Today, we've mounted a 6.7kWh Li-ion battery pack behind the rear seatback, which helps protect it in the event of a rear collision.

Compared to most other Li-ion batteries currently in use, the Honda electric hybrids battery can be charged quicker, has twice the number of charge cycles, and can operate in a much wider temperature range. How's that for a battery breakthrough?!
